DALL-E 3 is OpenAI's third-generation image generation model, released October 2023 and integrated into ChatGPT Plus. Significantly improved prompt adherence over DALL-E 2 through ChatGPT-based instruction refinement. Supported 1024×1024, 1024×1792, and 1792×1024 output sizes, with natural language quality controls (standard/HD). Deprecated with OpenAI API shutdown scheduled for May 12, 2026 in favor of the gpt-image series.
