IBM Granite 4.2 30B is the flagship of the Granite 4.2 family (released 25 August 2026): a dense decoder-only reasoning model (GraniteForCausalLM, ~29.3B params) post-trained from Granite-4.1-30B-Base with built-in <think> chain-of-thought, reasoning-augmented tool calling, 128K native context (512K long-context extension) and 12 tested languages.
