IBM Granite 4.2 8B (released 25 August 2026) is a dense decoder-only reasoning model (~8.8B params) post-trained from Granite-4.1-8B-Base with built-in <think> reasoning, tool calling, 128K native context (512K extension) and 12 tested languages.
