Seed 1.8 (Doubao 1.8) is ByteDance Seed's generalized agentic model released December 18, 2025. It supports multimodal text and image input with configurable chain-of-thought thinking modes. Strengths include GUI agent tasks across desktop/web/mobile, BrowseComp-en benchmark (67.6), code generation, and video understanding. Available via Volcengine (BytePlus) API with a 256K context window, max 64K output tokens. GitHub repository is Apache-2.0 licensed but weights are not publicly available.
