About
J1-Grande is a 17-billion parameter large language model (LLM) by AI21 Labs, strategically placed between their J1-Large and J1-Jumbo models, offering an optimal balance of performance and cost-effectiveness. It excels in generating high-quality text, comparable to the larger J1-Jumbo, and is adept at various tasks such as humorous poem generation, question answering, reading comprehension, and common sense reasoning. The model is a cost-effective solution for applications like marketing, chatbots, and creative writing, featuring faster response times and lower costs than the J1-Jumbo. J1-Grande can be accessed via AI21 Studio and Amazon SageMaker, offering flexible deployment options. The initial version was followed by J1-Grande v2, which is in beta and demonstrates enhanced performance. Note that as of November 14, 2024, the Jurassic-2 models, successors to J1-Grande, reach end-of-life.
