About Clef

Clef is Cloudflare's 27B open-weight multimodal decision model, released 2026-10-01 as one of the first models trained by the Workers AI team. Post-trained from Qwen3.8-27B: the backbone is frozen, and a joint schema head is trained alongside rank-256 LoRA adapters with label-smoothed cross-entropy, a Brier calibration loss, and RLCD. Clef reads a state (text, JSON, or images) and up to 64 typed questions (noul, choice, or score) and returns a probability for every allowed option in one non-autoregressive pass: a prefill-only backbone pass, then parallel schema scoring, with no free-form text generation and no output parsing.
